My One and Only Juliette

“My One and Only Juliette”

Disclaimer: I don’t own anything except this story of mine. Shugo Chara!, as we all know, rightfully belongs to Peach-Pit. Also, the song “Juliette” rightfully belongs to the Korean band SHINee.

I walked along the streets, completely blended in with the other pedestrians near by. It was a Saturday today, and I was glad for it. Finally, weekends are here. No school happening around this time, I thought, happy about the fact that I got to have left the damned place. Oh well, my happiness will be evaporating soon. I have to attend this Saturday’s class which will last til half-past noon next week. School stuff.

As I continued to pace, I had spotted a certain strawberry-haired girl down the park. I mused, watching her enjoying with herself as she listened to what I can’t clearly see from this distance. But I can tell that her eyes were closed, a small smile surfaced on her face, and she was swaying lightly from side to side, at the bench she was sitting at. Her face looked peaceful enough to tell me not to disturb her moment.

But I still can’t help myself.

I casually advanced to her direction, smoothly so no one would suspect my actions. I stood behind the big cherry blossom which was nearest to her location, and watched her with complete entertainment. Well, everything about her is entertaining for me.

I heard her sigh with delight, then muttering something that made my smile widen. I never knew she would be thinking of the song that way, or if I was hallucinating at this time. Surely, I wanted to believe what I heard, but then again, what if I made a mistake?

Suddenly, she said the Kiddy King’s name. Ugh. Him again. I shook my head, desperate—as I can say—to lose the ugly memories overwhelming me. Now is not the moment to get jealous with the Kiddy King. I know what their relationship is, and how it happened, but I’m not taking it in. Oh no, not at all. I’m pretty confident that their relationship wouldn’t last long… Long enough for me to take her away from him.

Likewise, with all of the get-him-out-of-my-mind-all-ready ranting against myself, my head snapped up, surprised with her continuous repetition of my name. It was as if she was calling for me. This time, I wouldn’t let it go.

I smirked, making my way up to her until she reached the final syllable of my name.

“Ikuto,” she said, absolutely lost in her own world. She didn’t notice me standing in front of her, not when I asked her with an innocent “yes?”. She jumped up in bewilderment, forgetting that she was sitting on a bench, causing herself to fall back.

Danger, danger, I told myself, reaching out for her and catching her small body before she even had any contact with the uncomfortable floor. Albeit, grass was everywhere, so it wouldn’t hurt her the slightest bit… or will it?

Amu’s eyes were still closed even after I caught her. I sighed, noting the fact this will remain a while longer. Although, I don’t mind if it could last forever… Wait; what am I exaggerating for? I shook my head in disbelief for myself. Lay out the sweets next time, I nodded, gently, ‘cuz it has some unknown substance… or it’s what I’m assuming. When Amu finally sensed that she didn’t fall back on anything hard and thin, or whatever—near to the last one, I suppose—her eyes flew open, seeing my face quite close to hers. If an inch or a quarter of that isn’t close, then what could? She blushed for approximately 2.15 seconds (Heaven’s sake! What am I counting for? Gotta avoid Maths soon) and pushed me away. I frowned at her movements. Great; no thanks or whatsoever? Right.

“Hey, don’t tell me you aren’t going to thank me?” I said, trying to put disappointment in my tone. I stared at her while she deliberated.

“Tha-Thanks, Ikuto.” Amu was still blushing as she stuttered in saying those words. She then turned her back on me and took a couple of steps away. Wow, nice going Ikuto, I mocked myself inwardly, See how she moves away? Brilliant work.

“I guess I’ll see you around,” I heard her say in a quiet voice. I continued to stare at her retreating figure as I mouthed an “all right” in return.

I sighed, sitting down on the bench where Amu sat earlier. I don’t know for how many times I’ve been sighing this morning, but certainly it’s more than I could count.

As I scanned across the bright, sunny park, I came across with Amu’s iPod on the seat beside me. OK, now I know what technology she’s been listening to. I grabbed it, curiously examining the little thing, and in the end, put on the earphones and listened to the previous song she’d been occupying on. I read the title of the song and the band’s name: “Juliette” it says for the song, and “SHINee” for the band. Uh-huh… I hadn’t heard of it.

I pressed the play button and it started.

“Song for my Juliette!”

Huh… It’s English?

“ssoda jildeut han dalbit yeoksi eoduwo” [The moonlight that’s about to spill is definitely dark.]

“teojil deut taneun hwaetbul neodo machangaji” [The same goes to you, the burning torch that’s about to explode.]

“geunyeoege bichi naneun beobeul baewoya hae” [I need to learn ways to shine to her.]

“geunyeol bomyeon nuni meoreobeoril kkeoya” [When I see her, my eyes feel like they’re going to go blind.]

Holy shit! I mean, uh… Never mind. It’s in some weird language I never heard of. Great, I groaned but continued listening. I was still so curious to why she was repeating my name, and I wondered on how Amu understood all of these words. Maybe she knows how to speak of this? I need a lesson for this… or I could look up the translation in the internet later…

“jebal gihoereul jwoyo nal boneun nun machi neol ango sipeoseo” [Please give me a chance. When you see me with those eyes I want to embrace you.]

“andal nan naege jangnanchineun yeougata” [To the trying me, you seem like a playful fox.]

I’m at lost for words. I don’t understand this, but hey, at least I’m giving it a shot. Then, I assume the next part would be the chorus.

“Juliette! yeonghoneul bachilkkeyo” [Juliette! I’ll give you my soul.]

“Juliette! jebal nal bada jwoyo” [Juliette! Please accept me.]

“Juliette! dalkomhi jom deo dalkomhage” [Juliette! Sweetly and a bit more sweeter]

“soksagyeo naui serenade” [Whispering my serenade]

I arose from my seat, walking out of the park, and making my way to the nearby Internet Café. I couldn’t wait til this evening, because I’m getting feeling I’m gonna have a nosebleed for not being able to understand their words.

“Waaahhh!!! Where is it?!? Oh my God! I must’ve forgotten it at the park!”

I heard Amu’s panicked cry as I run faster to her house. Boy, that girl sure can scream out loud. Not to mention at this time of night where people are sleeping all ready. I hope she wouldn’t wake up the whole neighbourhood; most importantly, her family.

“You seem rather troubled,” Ran said, confused with her bearer’s actions.

“That’s because it’s gone!” Amu replied, still looking for it.

“Relax, I know you’ll be able to find it tomorrow.” Miki said, matter-of-factly, I suppose.

“She’s right, desu.” Suu agreed.

“Mou,” Amu groaned, collapsing on her bed. She was pouting—I find it cute—and it told me that she wants it back, now or else she’ll be heading out this night to find it. Stubborn girl.

“Amu,” I called out from the balcony, “Were you looking for this?” I held her iPod up in the air so she could have a better look at it.

“My iPod!” she got up from her bed, opened her sliding glass door—or so that’s what I think it’s called—and smiled in relief. “Thanks, Ikuto!”

“Your welcome,” I told her, handing over the little thing, while studying her expression. Delight, I noted, glad, contentment, etcetera.

I was about to head back when I remembered something; on why I came here. It’s not only to give it back to her, rather to say something to her, too.

I leaned towards her ear, saw her blush at the process, then whispered, “I’m your Romeo, and you’ll be my one and only Juliette for life.” Then without warning, I kissed her right cheek, and smirked.

“Lovin’ you,” I told her absent-mindedly, shocked with saying it out loud, but I know I don’t want to take it back.

“I… love you, too.” she responds, surprising me, but happiness took over me, so I grinned. She pecked on my lips for half a second and hurried back inside her room, closing the door and curtains along the way.

“Likewise, Amu. I’ve known for a long time…” I pressed a finger to my lips and smiled sincerely. I then ran out of her balcony, staring upwards.

“With love’s light wings did I o’erperch these walls;

For stony limits cannot hold love out:

And what love can do, that dares love attempt;

Therefore thy kinsmen are no let to me.” Those were the only words I know of, for I was never a fan of Shakespeare’s works. But maybe, it can change, starting with the song which Amu love.

Chemi’s Words: Hey, it’s me again. :~D A little change in the pen name wouldn’t hurt, right? So, I came to this FanFic when I listened to “Juliette” repeatedly. LoLx, I think I’m addicted to the song. Please tell me what you think. ;~)
